Cordell Thorn serves as the Contracting Officer for the GPO. As Contracting Officer, Mr. Thorn is responsible for ensuring performance of all necessary actions for effective contracting, to include solicitation release and contract negotiation. He is also responsible for managing compliance with contract terms and conditions, and safeguarding the interests of the GPO in its contractual relationships.
Mr. Thorn has a strong background in contract negotiation and regulatory compliance in academia, government, and industry and has been responsible for the management of several major research and development contracts with both commercial organizations and various government agencies such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, & Instrumentation.
He has worked in the area of Grants Administration for Harvard University and most recently the Joslin Diabetes Center, a Harvard Medical School Affiliate, as the administrator for the Clinical Research and Behavioral and Mental Health sections. Mr. Thorn holds a Baccalaureate degree from Louisiana State University, a Juris Doctor degree from Regent University, and he is also a member of the National Contract Management Association.
